GB team pursuit make strong start

Great Britain’s team pursuit men made a blistering start to the World Track Cycling Championships by qualifying fastest for Wednesday’s final.

Ed Clancy, Pete Kennaugh, Andy Tennant and Geraint Thomas clocked three minutes 54.485 seconds – the third fastest time in history – in Melbourne.

They will meet Australia in the final after the favourites faltered in the last 500m to post 3:54.654.

Sir Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton go in the team sprints on Wednesday.
