Hoy and Kenny win on opening day

Great Britain’s Sir Chris Hoy and Jason Kenny opened their Six Days of Rotterdam campaign with wins.

The pair, who each took two golds at the London Olympics, won the two-man team sprint together as Kenny beat Netherlands’ Teun Mulder in the final.

Hoy, who beat France’s Gregory Bauge for third in the sprint, then won the keirin, with Kenny taking second place.

Kenny stood in first place in the overall Sprint Masters standings, with Hoy in second and Mulder in third.

The

Olympic sprint champion,

in his first event since

crashing in the UCI Track World Cup,

set the fastest time before beating Bauge in the Rotterdam sprint semi-final. Hoy lost to Mulder in his semi-final.

The annual event takes place in Rotterdam’s Ahoy Stadium every January and both Hoy and Kenny have raced there before at the event.
