Johnny’s Bikes

what does Johnny ride?…

In no particular order, my bikes…
(PS – I know it is sad to give names to ones possessions, but well, yep, guilty:))

Scarlet – Trek 1.7

Scarlet was purchased from Live2Ride in Frome, a great bike shop run by good people.
Shimano 105 groupset, and sporting Look Keo Sprint pedals, and a Specialized Toupe saddle, Scarlet has become a much loved ride.
Glad I didn’t go full carbon when I picked her out – else what would I have to look forward to? ;)

Betsy – Carrera Virtuoso

Betsy was the first road bike I bought to give roadies a go. Why the Virtuoso, well basically a good review in the magazines and it was cheap! :D Now used as a bit of a winter hack, Betsy has a set of Mavic Aksiums, Tiagra components and a Specialized Alias saddle, with spd pedal and Gatorskin rubber.
Often sporting a Topeak Rack and trunkbag, Betsy has covered a few thousand miles, never let me down, and has been amazing value for money… only thing I would say is if buying one, make sure you are happy to set it up properly yourself.

no-name Giant Boulder commuter convert

This Giant Boulder, was the first bike I picked up after the broken bones, my way of getting my legs back in order.
Now sporting rigid forks, Continental ultra sport thin tyres and spd pedals, this gets used for cycle paths and the odd commute. Could use a larger front chain ring though as too easy to spin out.

Old steel Raleigh Hardtail

My oldest bike, a made in Nottingham steel Raleigh hard tail. Originally bought for canal paths, now stored in the garage as I can’t bring myself to get rid. Ideally some new wheels and brakes would make this a good town bike… one day :)
