VIDEO: The battle over cycling’s future

BBC Sport’s Matt Slater reports from the training camps of Team Sky, Tinkoff-Saxo and Etixx-Quick Step on the battle over cycling’s calendar.

Tinkoff-Saxo owner Oleg Tinkov is calling for a reduction in the three-week duration of the sport’s three Grand Tours in order to see the top riders facing each other more regularly.

Resistance comes from his own star rider Alberto Contador who believes the Grand Tours ought to remain at their current length, as he prepares to tackle the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France double.
